Cyclone Arnab menaces millions in India as wars grind on from Gaza to Sudan
A cyclone is closing on India's east coast. It puts 5.4 million people in its damaging winds (GDACS red notification, 27 Oct 2026, 18 (~7 Jul 2026):00 UTC). Earlier estimates put nearly 30 million people inside the forecast wind area (Watchfloor, advisory 8). Authorities in the coastal states should finish evacuations now. In Ukraine, a truce has begun in one besieged city where residents ate weeds to survive (BBC, 28 Oct 2026). Jordan has struck inside Syria, killing people, in retaliation for a church attack (BBC). In the West Bank, forces are driving Palestinians from their homes around Hebron in what aid groups call collective punishment (ReliefWeb, Protection Cluster).
The Hebron displacement and Gaza's 272 days of recorded ceasefire violations come as aid volumes remain below earlier levels (HRW, 19 May 2026). Sudan's war continues after the fall of El Fasher, with 33.7 million people needing assistance (OCHA, 2026). Iran's war has shut the Strait of Hormuz to almost all shipping: 3.7 ships a day now pass, against 68 before the war (IMF PortWatch, 1 Jan–27 Feb 2026)(IMF PortWatch, week 12–18 Oct 2026). That choke holds back Gulf grain and fuel reaching East Africa's drought-hit ports. India's state relief teams should get food and shelter ready for Arnab's districts before the storm arrives.
